Hillva honey is a product of Uganda from bees (Apis Mellifera) in the highlands and valleys of Rukiga District found in South Western Uganda. It is inorganic, natural honey, no sugars or preservatives added. Hillva Honey At A Glance

Our honey (Obwoki) is harvested (Okuhakura) from beehives located in the hills & valleys of Rukiga District.The bees produce honey and pollinate crops like Coffee, Banana, Irish potatoes, Sorghum, Ovacado, Maize and trees like Eucalyptus, Pine, Cyprus, among others.The Color & Aroma of the honey originates from the flowers of these crops, plants & trees.

Our Background.

Through Medicare Health Professionals College Community Outreaches, it was discovered that beekeeping was one of the agricultural activities carried out in Rukiga District, but not as a significant way to generate household income. It was important to mobilize and organize beekeepers to participate in a more meaningful honey business enterprise and generate significant household income. To achieve this, the college facilitated the formation & registration of Rukiga Enjoki Association (REA). The college has mobilized and organized beekeepers, given them free local beehives (Ebihumi), trained beekeepers & provided a honey processing facility to produce Hillva honey in the District. Hillva honey is registered by the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) and certified by Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS).
